La banda se formó en 1964 en torno a los mellizos Walter y Scott Scotty, y de Harmon Gordy, Hutson Marcus Caldwell y Nicholas. En 1973 Harmon fue reemplazado por Leaveil Degree, un ex miembro de Friends of Distinction..
Conocieron especialmente el éxito en el año 1970 y 1980 durante el cual lanzaron numerosos éxitos como " Y The Beat Goes On " un clásico del Funk, " Rock Steady ", "Rock Steady", "Tonight" o "Lady"..
