Johnny "Guitar" Watson

(3 febrero 1935 - 17 mayo 1996) fue un músico estadounidense, cuya larga carrera influyó en el desarrollo del Blues , del Soul , desde el Rhythm and Blues , el Funk, la Rock y el Rap .
John Watson Jr. nació en Houston en Tejas . Su padre, John Watson, fue un pianista, y enseñó a su hijo. Sin embargo, John Watson Jr. se sintió atraído por la guitarra eléctrica tal como se practica por los guitarristas de Texas T-Bone Walker y Clarence Gatemouth Brown .
Cabe señalar que Frank Zappa fue considerado como uno de los guitarristas que más le han influido. Johnny "Guitar" Watson a participado en varias grabaciones de Zappa: You Are What You Is (1981) y Thing Fish (1984) entre otros.
Apodado "Guitar" por razones comprensibles, se crió en Los Angeles con el jazz-blues de Lowell Fulson , Dexter Gordon , BB King , Dizzy Gillespie , T. Bone Walker , Charlie Parker , Count Basie o Clarence Brow, este guitarrista y cantante que se lanzará bajo el nombre de Young John Watson, se inició en el piano antes de encontrar su instrumento y su estilo en gira con Guitar Slim.
En los años setenta, se había unido a el ex-semi vedette Larry Williams antes de pasar a la disco-funk
 Johnny "Guitar" Watson dio un concierto en el Blues Cafe de Yokohama (Japón) 17 de mayo cuando en 1996 se desplomó en el escenario víctima de un malestar. Trasladado al hospital murió.
